Club membership rules

All club members, regardless of rank must adhere to the following rules:

Anytime we gather as an organization, we must hold ourselves to certain standards which reflect our shared values, promote respect and accountability, and help us work together effectively.

For this reason, certain rules must be enforced to the fullest.

Alcohol and or drugs:
Over the counter and prescription drugs are not prohibited so long as they don't interfere with your ability to function in a safe manor.

However-unless we are in an establishment which sells alcohol or drugs, then it is not permitted. period.
If we met at a restaurant for a birthday party and they sold booze, you do you, but know your limits. Having a drink or two is one thing but intoxication is a whole other. be responsible and understand that we represent an organization, and for us to be taken seriously, we have to act accordingly. Your bad behavior makes us all look bad.

If we are out in thew field, we have 0 tolerance for any alcohol or drug that leads to impairment whatsoever. I don't care if its an open cornfield with whiskey barrels all around, do not drink alcohol or do any drugs when we are out in the field. Period. Sobriety is for safety concerns and we cant afford as a club to be liable because you cant control yourself.

The buddy system
The club requires members to use a buddy system during organized field trips. No participant may collect alone; each person must remain with an assigned partner or group to promote safety and facilitate emergency assistance.

Proper Attire
The proper attire must be worn for each circumstance. If a public establishment requires you to wear shirt shoes, then we do to. But above and beyond, you will not wear flip flops on the mountain side while digging for rocks. You will need the proper foot ware, and if you don't have it or you cant borrow it, sorry, but you cant go.
High ankle hiking boots are preferred, but no foot ware that will not hold up to rocky terrain, especially if there are cactus and or snakes running amok. So no crocks, no canvas sneakers, you need to have real boots with real tread and real protection rising above your ankle.

We cant carry you and all our rocks at the same time.

DO NOT PROMOTE ILLEGAL ACTIVITES
Aside from the obvious stuff, we don't want to have discussions about how someone went to RMNP and brought back a bucket full of rocks, or entered private property without permission. and we certainly don't want members talking about or planning to do so.

Hate Speech- We have a 0 tolerance policy towards any kind of hate speech.
And even if you think you can defend it under the 1st amendment, it aint welcome here. So no shirts with racist crap, no hats with confederate flags, you know, all that stuff. We are a club who enjoys diversity and that means everyone is included except those who would exclude someone else for some stupid superficial reason such as sex, race religion or political views. We will not tolerate it at all. You will be expelled from the club.
