Hello, I am the founder of Longmont Rockhounding club.
I am olderly with a house, wife and two kids. One still lives at home.
I love to go camping, play music, fly fish, cook, and love to have a beer now and then. When Im at home I spend most of my time in research, a lot of YouTube and computer research.
I learned a bunch of geology terms and I am not afraid to misuse them.
I never officially considered myself rock hound until I was in my 20s.
most of my teens and up to my 30s I spent most of my time in the outdoors, hiking and camping and finding cool stuff.
For a brief time I worked at the Cave of the Winds in Colorado Springs and was a member of the geological society and spelunkers club. I Made a few low end discoveries and helped to get the caves open from collapses and so forth.
I hiked all through the foothills from Canyon City all the way up to Ft Collins. collected quite a few things over the years.
I have spent a lot of time in Hartsell and Fairplay areas as well as Brekenridge.
I have always enjoyed geology, and I learn more and more as I go. Seeing new things in places I've seen 1000 times.
I went to school for physics and computer sciences, and minored in Astronomy. I am fascinated by the early protoplanets of our solar system and plate tectonics.
I guess I'm what you'd call a polymath as I am always looking to learn as much as I can about as many things as I can.
Im looking forward with meeting you all and learning more about this hobby. I want to learn more about lapidary, and I want to go out on 4 -6 day trips where I can camp, rock hound, metal detect and rockhound. Kremling is one of my favorite places as is Canyon City.
ok, well that's about all for me. Hope to see you all out in the field!
